Ayurvedic Hair Oil

Hair Elixir

Sesame Oil · Amla · Frangipani · Bhringraj · 50 ml

In Ayurveda, well-cared for hair doesn't start with shampoo, but with the scalp. An oil for your weekly ritual — concentrated, light, without residue in the hair.

Application

The Shiro Abhyanga Ritual

In Ayurveda, head massage with oil is called Shiro Abhyanga — Shiro for the head, Abhyanga for the nourishing touch with oil. It is one of the oldest self-care practices in Ayurveda and is part of the classical Dinacharya, the daily self-care ritual. Applied once a week, it makes the biggest difference.

  1. 01 Place four to five drops of Hair Elixir into the palms and warm briefly. For longer or very thick hair, use proportionally more — the oil should be used sparingly to avoid weighing down the hair.
  2. 02 First, massage the scalp — with your fingertips in small circular motions from the crown to the sides. The scalp is the origin of the hair: nourishing it means nourishing the root.
  3. 03 Run the remaining oil in your hands through the lengths and ends. Particularly dry or porous ends benefit from a little more oil.
  4. 04 Leave on for at least 30 minutes — or overnight, for more intensive care. Afterward, wash out with a mild shampoo. The hair feels nourished and supple.

Ingredients

Six ingredients. Each with a story.

Sesamum Indicum Seed Oil
Herbal carrier oil · Tridoshic · Ayurvedic base oil
Sesame Oil

The classic base oil of Ayurveda — warm, deeply effective, balancing for all three doshas. Sesame oil forms the basis of the Hair Elixir: It nourishes the scalp and hair fiber and carries the other active ingredients into the lengths. Rich in natural vitamin E and unsaturated fatty acids that nourish the scalp and hair.

* Sesame oil nourishes the scalp and hair. Health-related claims according to EU law refer to topical application as a nourishing and protective oil.

Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride
Coconut · Light carrier oil · Kapha-regulating
MCT Coconut Oil

Medium-chain triglycerides from coconut oil — the lightest natural care oil available. MCT coconut oil makes the Hair Elixir fluid and easy to apply, without weighing down the hair. It absorbs quickly and leaves no heavy residue.

* MCT coconut oil nourishes the hair and scalp. No medicinal effects are claimed.

Phyllanthus Emblica Seed Oil
India · Amla · Vata-Pitta balancing
Amla Seed Oil

Amla — the Indian gooseberry — is one of the central plants of Ayurveda and is considered a Rasayana in the Charaka Samhita, a rejuvenating agent of Ayurvedic tradition. The seed oil is rich in fatty acids that nourish hair fiber and scalp. Amla has been the most well-known hair care remedy in Ayurvedic tradition for centuries.

* Amla seed oil is a herbal cosmetic oil. No medicinal effects are claimed. The described use is based on Ayurvedic tradition.

Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Extract
India · Amla Fruit · Highest natural vitamin C source
Amla Fruit Extract

The extract from the Amla fruit is one of the richest natural sources of vitamin C and bioactive polyphenols. Applied to the scalp, it nourishes the scalp and hair. Together with Amla seed oil, it forms the Ayurvedic core of the Hair Elixir — two forms of a plant that complement each other in their nourishing effect.

* Amla fruit extract is a herbal cosmetic extract. No medicinal effects are claimed. The described use is based on Ayurvedic tradition.

Plumeria Alba Flower Oil
India · Frangipani · Pitta-cooling · Natural scent
Frangipani

Frangipani — known as Champa in India — is one of the sacred flowering plants of the subcontinent and has been used in Ayurvedic hair care for centuries. Its flower oil gives the Hair Elixir its warm-floral, slightly exotic scent — entirely natural in origin, without synthetic fragrances. In Ayurveda, Frangipani is considered Pitta-cooling and is used to soothe the scalp and senses.

* Frangipani flower oil is a herbal fragrance and nourishing oil. The described use is based on Ayurvedic tradition. No medicinal effects are claimed.

Eclipta Prostrata Extract
India · Bhringraj · The "King of Hair"
Bhringraj

Bhringraj — literally "King of Hair" — is the most important hair plant in Ayurveda. In the Sushruta Samhita, it is described as the most important remedy for scalp and hair care. Bhringraj extract intensively nourishes the scalp and, according to Ayurvedic tradition, gives hair shine and suppleness. It is the signature ingredient of the Hair Elixir — and the reason why this oil is rooted in Ayurvedic tradition.

* Bhringraj extract is a herbal cosmetic extract. No medicinal effects are claimed. The described use is based on Ayurvedic tradition.

The Tradition

Why hair care starts with Ayurveda

In Ayurveda, hair is not an isolated physical characteristic — it is a mirror of inner balance. Weekly head massage with oil has been part of Dinacharya, the daily self-care ritual of classical Ayurvedic medicine, for millennia. Bhringraj, Amla, and sesame oil are the three plants that consistently appear in all traditional hair care formulas — not as a trend, but as an experience passed down through generations. The Hair Elixir follows this tradition in a concentrated, modern form.

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you want to know

How often do I use the Hair Elixir?

Once a week as a hair treatment — applied before shampooing and left on for at least 30 minutes, ideally overnight. If daily care is preferred, a single drop can be run through the dry lengths and ends without washing the hair.

Does the oil weigh down the hair?

No — if sparingly dosed. Four to five drops are enough for shoulder-length hair. The MCT coconut oil in the formula ensures that the elixir absorbs quickly and leaves no heavy residue. After washing, the hair feels light, supple, and nourished.

What hair type is the Hair Elixir suitable for?

For all hair types. Dry, damaged, colored, or fine hair particularly benefit — hair types that are assigned an increased Vata proportion in Ayurveda. Thick or curly hair (Kapha-dominant) also absorbs the light oil well, without becoming too heavy.

Can I also use the oil on the scalp?

Yes — that is even the classic Ayurvedic application. First massage the scalp, then the lengths. The Shiro Abhyanga massage nourishes the scalp and hair roots from where the hair originates.

How long does a bottle last?

With weekly use of four to five drops, 50 ml will last approximately two to three months. The oil is concentrated — less is indeed more here.

Where and how is the oil produced?

The Hair Elixir is hand-filled and packaged in Germany — in a socially inclusive workshop that employs people with and without disabilities together. Each bottle is part of a conscious value cycle: regionally produced, fairly compensated, with short distances. All ingredients are of vegan origin.
