FAQs

Where are the products manufactured?
Our tea collection:
The black tea in our Energise tea is an Assam tea. Located in eastern Assam, India, near the border with Myanmar, the Satrupa tea plantation produces teas with an intense, rich flavour. In the foothills of the Himalayas, along the Brahmaputra, our teas grow under the heavy rainfall and hot, humid daytime temperatures that create a unique flavour found only in Assam teas. This organic tea tastes great with milk, but is also mild enough to drink without. The other herbs come mainly from South Asia and Europe.

The teas and herbs are sourced from Hälssen & Lyon, a traditional tea manufacturer from Hamburg that has been doing this since 1879. They have been part of the Ethical Trading Initiative since 2011 and are regularly audited.

From Hamburg, our teas go to Wertkreis gGmbH, an organic-certified integrative workshop in Gütersloh. Here, the teas are checked again for quality and lovingly packaged in tea boxes made by Klann Packaging in Landshut. Klann Packaging is the last remaining manufacturer of metal boxes in Germany and one of the three remaining in the EU! They are certified by the Fraunhofer Institute for the highest standard of food packaging. Our boxes are made from 93% recycled tin. The boxes are painted with cobalt-free paint by Hubert GmbH , a 145-year-old, sustainable company from Öhringen near Stuttgart. Our stone paper labels are made in Bünde near Bielefeld by Mail Druck GmbH , an 80-year-old company that uses neither water nor wood. When you buy our compostable refill bags, they are made in Hövelhof near Bielefeld.

The shipping boxes are made of 90% recycled paper or grass-based cardboard. The boxes are printed using water-based inks. The packaging for the textiles is made of potato starch, which is produced in Middlesex, England.

textiles
Our linen towels and table runners are made in a centuries-old Swedish mill from French and Belgian linen.

tea accessories
The teapot and teacups are made in Modena from local Gress porcelain and wood from the local forest.
